Las Vegas has no tourist tax per person. It has the resort fee instead: a flat charge per room and night that almost all big Strip hotels add on top of the room rate. The hotel sets it, not the city.
Resort fee and tax
- Strip hotels: usually about 45 to 55 USD per room and night, with Bellagio, Aria, Venetian and Wynn around 55 USD.
- Downtown and off-Strip: about 25 to 35 USD.
- The 13.38 percent lodging tax applies to the fee as well. On 50 USD that is about 6.69 USD, so about 56.69 USD per night.
Example: three nights at a hotel listed at 120 USD a night. Room 360 USD, resort fee 150 USD, tax on both about 68 USD. The total is roughly 578 USD, a good 60 percent above the room rate alone. In return you get Wi-Fi, pool, gym and, depending on the hotel, more.
Since 12 May 2025 a US federal rule requires hotels to include mandatory fees when they advertise a price. The fee now appears in the headline total more often, but not everywhere. Check the price on the last booking step.
Parking and transfers
- Hotel parking: about 20 to 25 USD per day for self-parking at MGM and Caesars properties, valet about 40 USD and up.
- Taxi to the Strip: about 15 to 25 USD plus tip. The airport and the Strip are only a few miles apart.
- Uber and Lyft: about 15 to 35 USD, more at peak times.
- Shuttle: from about 19 USD per person.
- Public bus: about 2 to 4 USD a ride, but some lines run only once an hour.
Car hire
The rental centre is away from the terminal and a free shuttle takes you there. Drivers under 25 pay a young-renter fee of about 20 to 35 USD per day. If you stay on the Strip, going without a car usually saves more than the flexibility is worth, since hotel parking and the resort fee add up together.
