AML Travel and Tours — Cashback: up to 3%

AML Travel and Tours is a tour operator based in Tanzania with an office in the UK. It offers safaris in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro, Kilimanjaro climbs, beach holidays on Zanzibar and flight tickets. It suits you if you want a Tanzania trip tailored to you and prefer talking to a small team over using a booking portal.

What you can book there

The website lists safaris, trekking tours such as the Marangu route, Zanzibar packages as well as flights, hotels and transfers within Tanzania. Trips can be tailored, you just tell the team about your style and budget. The flight search on the home page asks for departure, destination, dates, passengers and class.

What a booking really costs

Tour pages show prices per person, partly in British pounds. The price is the basis but not set in stone: according to the terms, taxes, fuel costs or exchange rates can affect it. The company says it will inform you before applying any change. If you book far ahead, allow for the chance of a small adjustment.

If you pay in instalments, a 3 percent instalment fee applies. It is shown at checkout before you confirm. On a trip for two people costing several thousand pounds, that is a noticeable amount, and you can weigh it against the benefit of spreading the payment. Paying in one go carries no extra fee. Travel insurance, visas and personal spending on site are not part of the price either.

Cancellation and payment

On the website you can pay everything at once or in 4, 6 or 10 monthly instalments. The plans depend on how far away departure is: 4 instalments with at least 60 days to go, 6 with at least 90 days and 10 with at least 150 days. The last instalment is always collected 30 days before departure. Payment goes through Stripe, and you get an email confirmation after every payment.

The terms mention a 30 percent deposit, with the balance due at least 30 days before travel. Cancellation follows a scale: more than 60 days before departure, the deposit is forfeited and the rest is refunded. At 45 to 60 days you get 50 percent back, at 30 to 44 days 25 percent, and with less than 30 days nothing. Refunds are processed within 30 working days. You have to cancel in writing.

How to save

The home page sometimes promotes a promo code for Zanzibar trips, so check whether something is running. Otherwise it pays to compare paying once with paying in instalments, because the 3 percent fee is saved with a single payment. On top of that you earn cashback through daily cashback, which counts for more on an expensive safari than you might first think.

A conversation with the team before booking is worthwhile, especially for wishes about route, lodging or travel season. That way you clarify extra costs before you pay and know exactly what the price includes.

Tips

  • Take out travel insurance covering illness, cancellation and evacuation. The company recommends this explicitly.
  • Check your passport, health documents and entry rules early.
  • Report problems straight away to your guide or the local contact. Complaints after your return must be sent in writing within 14 days.
  • The company arranges hotels, flights and transport from partners and is not liable for how they operate. Read the tour details if you have special requests.
  • Because of the strict scale, settle your dates before you book.

Booking with cashback

The cashback runs through daily cashback. Open the daily cashback store page for AML Travel and Tours first, click through to the provider from there and then book as usual on its own site. The credit arrives once the booking is confirmed and the trip is completed. Book through the same route even if you pay in instalments, so the booking can be matched.

You can see the current cashback rate on our AML Travel and Tours provider page at TripPrice. Current vouchers and deals are listed on that page as well, along with the cashback conditions.
