Snaptrip vs Airbnb: Which is cheaper for holiday rentals? No blanket answer exists, since season, region and host shape the price more than the site does. What can really be compared are the rules around it: fees, deposit, security deposit, cancellation. We put Snaptrip first and recommend it for holiday cottages and homes, because the site is clear about when each part falls due and promotes a price promise. Airbnb sits next to it factually. The basis is the help pages and terms of both providers, read in October 2026.
Who your contract partner is
Snaptrip works as a marketplace with property managers. Your contract is with the owner or agency, and according to the terms the money goes to them, less charges Snaptrip makes against the owner's account. After a provisional booking you receive the manager's details, and after a confirmed one as well. You settle questions about the house directly there.
On Airbnb there is the host and the platform, which handles payment and refunds itself. You change the payment method only at Airbnb.
What comes on top of the price
At Snaptrip the terms add a booking fee on top of the deposit or the full rental. A damage deposit can come too, set by the owner. You get it back if nothing is damaged at checkout. Some homes offer a damage deposit waiver instead, which is non-refundable and covers accidental damage only, not malicious damage. Linen and towels are mostly included at no extra cost, a highchair or cot is sometimes free and sometimes extra, as stated in the description.
On Airbnb the price is the nightly rate, host fees such as cleaning and the service fee. Under the split model guests carry a share of that fee, it is not a free extra, and the help page puts the range at 14.1 to 16.5 percent of the subtotal excluding taxes. Under the single model the host pays it. Fees outside the platform are allowed only in exceptions and must appear in the price at checkout. Most hosts may not ask for a security deposit.
Payment plan
Snaptrip: the deposit is one third of the rent plus the booking fee. You pay the rest no later than six or eight weeks before arrival, depending on the home. Book later and everything is due at once. If you miss the final payment, the booking can be cancelled and what you paid is forfeited.
Airbnb: you see the payment terms before paying. How much is charged when appears in the offer's breakdown.
Cancelling
At Snaptrip the rule depends on the owner or manager, and the cost depends on how close the start date is. Check the rule at confirmation or ask customer service beforehand. If you have travel insurance, the owner can provide a statement of payments not refunded.
On Airbnb the host sets the rule. It is on the listing page, at payment and in the confirmation. You get the service fee back only if you cancel within the free period or the host refunds everything. If the host cancels, you get everything back.
Price promise and membership
Snaptrip promises you never pay more than booking directly with the partner. If you find the same property cheaper elsewhere, you can write to customer service and, according to Snaptrip, the difference is refunded. Membership is free and is meant to give access to special prices. Airbnb does not advertise a loyalty scheme for guests.

Which suits whom
Snaptrip fits if you look for a holiday home or cottage, say for a weekend in the countryside or with a dog, and like a fixed payment plan. A paw print shows how many dogs are allowed, and without one pets are not accepted. That is our pick for trips to the country, without promising a price advantage.
Airbnb fits if access to many private hosts in one place matters more to you and you like uniform handling through one account.
In both cases compare the total over all nights and the cancellation rule.
Cashback
Snaptrip is on daily cashback. Open the Snaptrip page, go to the provider from there and book in one session. The current rate is on the provider page. For Airbnb there is no cashback.
