GetOut is an annual membership for leisure attractions in the United States. With a membership you get free or reduced admission to attractions, aquariums, theme parks, museums and other outings in your region, and you redeem the offers through the app. It pays off if you plan several outings in one region, for example on a family holiday or in your home town.
What you can book
You do not buy a single ticket but a pass subscription for a region. The site lists passes for different states and cities, one example being the Las Vegas pass with 136 attractions. Which places are included depends on the market and can change. You pick your pass through Find Near Me, which is tuned to your area.
- Regional passes with entry to many attractions
- Gift codes that you redeem under Redeem Gift
- Members on one account, up to twelve people
- Redeeming offers through the app
What the membership really costs
The price depends on the pass you choose. The membership runs for twelve months from purchase and renews automatically at the price then in force if you do not turn renewal off. You get a reminder at least 30 days before renewal, including any new price. A payment plan runs through third party providers, and their terms apply then.
Also expect that not every offer is unlimited. Some can be redeemed once a year, others monthly or quarterly. Each attraction may have blackout dates and restrictions, shown in the offer in the app. Before you buy, check that the places you want are included for your dates and weigh the admission prices against the pass. It only pays off if you use enough of it.
Cancellation and refunds
You can turn off automatic renewal at any time in your account settings. Under the terms a full refund is available within 120 days of purchase or renewal as long as you have not redeemed any offer. After that the membership counts as used, and a refund is reviewed case by case. After 120 days there is no refund. If you bought through a reseller such as Groupon, its refund rule applies. The membership is tied to one person and cannot be transferred. When you upgrade you pay the full difference, there is no pro rata price.
Before you ask your bank for a chargeback: the provider asks you to contact it first and notes that a chargeback can lead to the account being suspended.
How to save
GetOut shows time limited sales on its home page, such as a fall sale. Additional codes are shown on our provider page. For cashback, only use coupons listed there for this provider. You also save by putting several people on one account and using the offers with the family.
Booking with cashback
The cashback runs through daily cashback. Here is how to do it:
- Open the daily cashback store page for GetOut and click through to the provider from there.
- Pick your booking and pay as usual with GetOut.
- Finish everything in the same browser tab, without visiting other sites in between.
The reward is credited once the trip is confirmed. You can see the current rate on the GetOut provider page at TripPrice. You book directly with GetOut.
Who GetOut suits
The pass brings most when you visit several places from the list anyway, for example on several days of a holiday in one city. If you only want to see a single attraction, an ordinary ticket often costs less. Work it out before buying: add up the admissions you will really use and set them against the price of the pass.
Tips
- Complete a profile for every person, because you cannot get in without one.
- Note the day when automatic renewal kicks in.
- Check the app for blackout dates before you set out.
- If you are still unsure, redeem nothing in the first period, because a refund is harder afterwards.
