Holidu vs Vrbo: Which Is Cheaper for Holiday Rentals?

Holidu vs Vrbo compared: final price with service fee, cancellation tiers, payment, One Key and which site suits holiday rentals.

Holidu vs Vrbo: Which is cheaper for holiday rentals? There is no fixed answer, since the same flat costs a different amount by season, length of stay and host. The rules behind the final price are easier to pin down: service fee, taxes, cancellation tiers, payment. We put Holidu first and recommend it, because its help pages disclose where extras and payment deadlines are shown and because Holidu lays offers from several hosts side by side. We look at Vrbo factually. The help pages were read in October 2026.

The final price

Vrbo promotes prices that include all mandatory fees. Its help page says the displayed price contains all required fees and the service fee. Taxes are added at checkout, as are optional extras such as recreation fees. The service fee is a percentage of the reservation total before taxes and refundable fees, its level depends on the amount, and VAT can come on top where the law demands. Hosts cannot waive or reduce it. In return Vrbo names secure payment processing, 24/7 support and its VrboCare protection for bookings made on Vrbo.

On Holidu hosts set the prices themselves, discounts such as long-stay offers are already in the price, and no code is needed. Extras are on the property page once you choose dates and guests: bed linen, cleaning, pets, consumption costs, plus optional services like a crib or pool heating. What is due locally is listed in the confirmation email, for instance tourist tax, a deposit or energy costs.

Cancellation tiers at Vrbo

At Vrbo the host picks one of seven rules. They differ in the deadline for a full refund: the shortest ends 24 hours before check-in, the next 5 days before. Relaxed refunds fully up to 14 days before arrival and half between 14 and 7 days. Moderate runs 30 days, Firm and Strict 60 days, and there is also a rule with no refund. What counts is 11:59 p.m. property time on the last day of the window. The service fee is refunded automatically if you cancel inside the full-refund window. You cancel in your own account, non-refundable bookings included.

On Holidu the host's rule applies. Common are flexible rules with free cancellation up to 24 hours before arrival, moderate ones with deadlines and strict ones with partial or no refund. You cancel in your account or through the link in the email. If you booked through Vrbo, you cancel there under My Trips, and if the option is missing you send a request. The refund goes back to the original payment method and should reach your account within 2 to 4 business days after processing, according to the help.

Payment

Holidu can require a second payment. The deadline is in the confirmation and under My Bookings, with reminders beforehand. If the second payment does not arrive, the booking may be cancelled automatically. At Vrbo you see the breakdown including taxes before you submit. The booking step shows the exact payment plan.

Loyalty

Vrbo belongs to One Key, the shared programme with Expedia and Hotels.com. You collect OneKeyCash for future bookings and trip elements for your tier: Silver from 5, Gold from 15 and Platinum from 30 elements a year. For vacation rentals one element counts per completed night, and each part needs a minimum of 25 US dollars before taxes and fees. Holidu does not advertise a guest programme.

Which suits whom

Holidu fits if you want to lay properties side by side and know beforehand what is still due on site. We recommend that for families and groups. We promise no price advantage with it.

Vrbo fits if you want to see prices with mandatory fees included and use One Key. Add the taxes at the end and check the tier of the cancellation rule.

For every flat, divide the total by the number of guests.

Cashback

Holidu is listed at daily cashback. Open the Holidu page, compare calmly and click through it to the provider only shortly before you finish. The current rate is on the provider page. For Vrbo there is no cashback.
