Holidu is a comparison site for holiday rentals: holiday homes, apartments and other stays in many European countries. It suits you if you travel with family or friends and would rather rent a whole property with a kitchen and more space than several hotel rooms.
What you can book
Holidu shows offers from many sources in one place. The home page shows the price per night, for example as a from-price. You search by place, dates and number of guests. The provider stresses that properties are checked by local experts and points to its cooperation with the German Holiday Home Association. Hosts with good ratings and plenty of experience are marked as Star Hosts. There is also an app.
What a booking really costs
With holiday rentals the nightly price from the list is especially rarely the final price. Watch these points, which are handled differently per property:
- Final cleaning: often added to the rent as a fixed sum.
- Deposit: some hosts ask for one, either in advance or on arrival. You get it back after departure if everything is fine.
- City or tourist tax: often paid on site.
- Utilities: electricity, water, bed linen or towels are sometimes included and sometimes extra.
- Pets, parking and minimum stay: worth a look in the description.
Which of these costs apply is stated in the description and in the price overview before you complete the booking. So compare the total over all nights and divide it by the number of guests.
Cancellation and payment
On Holidu many offers are marked with free cancellation. This does not apply to every property, because the rules differ by offer. Check the deadline, the time of payment and the size of any down payment before you confirm. With holiday rentals it is common that part is due early and the rest later. Read the payment schedule in the booking step and keep the confirmation.
How to save
The biggest levers are travel time and group size. Outside peak season holiday home prices usually drop clearly, and the more people share the rent, the cheaper the night per head. According to Holidu you can also log in to get price benefits. You see vouchers and offers on our provider page, as well as the current cashback rate.
Important for the credit: first compare several properties calmly. Then, shortly before completing the booking, click through daily cashback to the provider and book. That way the booking is matched reliably.
Booking with cashback
Cashback runs through daily cashback. Here is how:
- First search and compare several properties.
- Shortly before completing, open the daily cashback shop page for Holidu.
- Go from there to Holidu and book your chosen property.
- Keep the booking confirmation until the cashback is confirmed.
The cashback is credited after the confirmed trip. For German-speaking markets there is also a separate daily cashback page, which you can find through our provider page.
A calculation to run in your head
Two properties cost almost the same per night. One adds final cleaning and bed linen, the other includes both but asks for a deposit. Only when you add up all items for the whole trip do you see which one is cheaper. Also factor in the journey: a property far from the station often needs a car, and that costs rent, fuel and parking.
Tips
- Read reviews and check how recent they are.
- If anything is unclear about arrival, key handover and check-in time, ask the host.
- Check whether bed linen and towels are included, otherwise add them as extra costs.
- Look at the distance to the beach, ski lift or town centre, not just at the name of the place.
- Check the cancellation terms once more before you book.
