TUI Cars is a car rental portal from TUI where insurance cover is said to be included in the prices shown. That makes it worth a look if you do not want surprise add-ons at the rental desk, for example on holidays around the Mediterranean or the Canary Islands.

What you can book

You book rental cars at airports and in holiday regions. According to the provider, pick-up at the airport terminal works without a shuttle at most stations. At selected locations around the Mediterranean and on the Canary Islands there is also hotel delivery. Destinations in North America are part of the offer as well.

What the booking really costs

The provider lists as included: fully comprehensive insurance with no deductible, protection for glass, tyres, roof and underbody, theft protection, liability cover of 7.5 million euros, and towing costs after an accident or breakdown. Mileage is usually unlimited. This is exactly the part that many rental offers otherwise sell as an expensive extra at the counter. The price you see online is therefore closer to the real final price.

A few things still deserve a check: a security deposit is required, so expect a hold on your payment card. Whether young drivers, one-way rentals or child seats cost extra is not fixed across the board but depends on the station and its rental terms. An additional driver is free at many stations around the Mediterranean and on the Canary Islands, but not everywhere.

Cancellation and payment

According to the provider, free cancellation or rebooking is possible up to 24 hours before pick-up, with an exception for one Alaska offer. That is a common and fair deadline for rental cars, but do not leave it to the last minute. For payment methods, read the details in the booking flow.

How to save

The biggest lever is comparing offers with the same cover. A seemingly cheaper car without full insurance often ends up costing more. Then there is the fair fuel rule: you return the car with the same fuel level you received it with. Fill up shortly before drop-off and keep the receipt.

Cashback comes on top. Start the search and booking only after clicking through from daily cashback, turn off your ad blocker, and finish the reservation in one session without comparing on other sites in between.

Tips

  • Take photos of the car at hand-over and have any damage noted in the protocol.
  • Bring a payment card with enough headroom for the deposit hold.
  • Check whether the station is at the terminal or needs a walk.
  • Refuel so the gauge reads the same at drop-off as at pick-up.

How to go about the booking

  1. Enter pick-up place, return place and times. Plan the times to fit your flight, including possible delays.
  2. Compare offers by what they include, not just price: insurance, mileage, fuel rule, terminal pick-up.
  3. Read the station rental terms, especially on deposit, minimum age and additional drivers.
  4. Check the total in the last step and save the confirmation.
  5. Bring your driving licence, ID and payment card to the desk.

If you travel with children, add child seats early. At the desk they are not always available in the size you need. For longer trips it is also worth clarifying beforehand whether driving into neighbouring countries is allowed.

Avoiding typical mistakes

Most annoyances do not come from the provider but from rushing. Many people book on their phone between two appointments and only later notice that a date or name is wrong. Take two minutes for the last step and read everything once more. Also never compare apples with oranges: two offers are only comparable when they include the same services. And for the cashback: if you open a second tab mid-booking, switch to another device or enter an outside coupon code, you put the credit at risk. Stick to one flow from start to finish.

Booking with cashback

The cashback runs through daily cashback. Open the daily cashback shop page for TUI Cars first: TUI Cars at daily cashback. From there you continue to the provider and book as usual. The credit arrives once the booking is confirmed and the trip is completed. You can see the current rate on our provider page: TUI Cars on TripPrice.
