VIP Cars is a booking platform for car rental. It compares offers from many suppliers at airports and in city centres, and it suits anyone who wants to see the full price of a rental car, including insurance and extras, before booking.
What you can book
According to the site, VIP Cars works with more than 800 rental suppliers at over 22,000 locations worldwide. Popular destinations include Thailand, New Zealand, Italy, the USA and Germany. You enter place, dates and vehicle class and see offers from different suppliers side by side. So you do not book with one rental company directly but through the platform, which reserves the car with the supplier.
What a booking really costs
VIP Cars advertises prices that already include collision damage waiver, theft protection, airport surcharge and taxes. That helps, because those are exactly the items that tend to get expensive at the rental desk. Still, look at these points:
- Fuel policy: the platform offers full to full. You pick the car up full and return it full, which is usually the cheapest and fairest option.
- Deposit: the amount depends on the supplier and the country and is set out in the rental terms of your booking. It is held at pick-up, so you usually need the right card for it. Check in your booking which card is required.
- Drivers: age and licence requirements are covered in the help centre. Check them before you book.
- Extras such as a child seat or navigation, additional drivers and one-way rentals cost more.
Compare the total, not the daily rate. A car with a low daily price but a high deposit and extra charges can end up more expensive overall.
Cancellation and payment
According to the provider, cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pick-up. At booking you pay a small deposit to VIP Cars and settle the rest at the rental desk when you collect the car. So plan the money and the card for the balance and the security deposit. Check the cancellation terms of your rate before you book in case they differ from this basic rule.
How to save
On our provider page you will find current offers, for example a discount on car rentals from certain suppliers at selected locations. Such offers only apply to the places and periods named. On top of that you get cashback. You also save by booking early, staying flexible on pick-up place and time, and choosing the smallest class that fits your luggage.
Tips
- Compare the rental terms, especially the fuel policy, before you book.
- Click through daily cashback shortly before you complete the booking so the flow is not interrupted.
- Photograph the car from all sides at pick-up and note any damage on the handover form.
- Bring your licence, passport and the card you booked with.
An example of the comparison: two offers cost almost the same per day, but one requires the car back with an empty tank and a higher deposit. Over a week, with a tank filled at a surcharge price, the cheaper day rate quickly becomes the more expensive offer. So look at fuel policy, deposit, mileage and insurance cover for each offer before you look at the price. At pick-up, the desk sometimes offers extra insurance. Decide beforehand whether you need it so you do not agree under time pressure.
Booking with cashback
The cashback runs through daily cashback. Open the daily cashback page for VIP Cars first, click through to the provider from there and then book as usual. The cashback is credited after the trip is confirmed, not at the moment of booking. Keep your booking confirmation until the credit shows as confirmed, use a normal browser window and switch off ad blockers or tracking protection for the booking. You can see the current rate on our provider page for VIP Cars.
