Weekend in Italy sells museum tickets, tours and experiences in Italian cities. That is handy if you want to skip queues and fix a time slot for the big sights such as the Uffizi or the Vatican Museums in advance.
What you can book
The provider names more than 600 services in Florence, Milan, Naples, Rome, Sicily, Siena, Turin and Venice. The home page shows for example the Uffizi from 9 euros, the Last Supper in Milan with the Brera from 17.50 euros, the Naples Archaeological Museum from 24 euros and the Vatican Museums from 16.50 euros. There are also guided tours, bike tours, countryside trips, workshops with artisans, private excursions and Vespa rides.
What a booking really costs
The prices on the home page are starting prices. The total is made up like this:
- Admission and reservation: a booking fee may be added to the ticket price. You see the total when you pick the date, time and ticket type and click calculate.
- Reductions: some museums have reduced or free tickets. This is listed under prices for each service. At the entrance you must show ID that proves your entitlement.
- Change fee: if you move a confirmed visit, you pay a new fee per ticket: 7.75 euros for the Uffizi, 7 euros for the Accademia and 6 euros for the other museums.
- Time slot: if your preferred time is sold out, the museum confirms the closest free time on the same day.
The provider says that two museums a day is realistic in Florence. Plan your bookings accordingly, otherwise you pay for admissions you do not use.
Cancellation and payment
Confirmed museum reservations can usually be cancelled and you get the price of the unused ticket back, but not the booking fee. Excursions and some museums have their own rules, and some give no refund at all. The Last Supper and the Brera cannot be changed or cancelled once confirmed. So read the cancellation rule for each service before you pay. Payment is by credit card through a bank payment gateway. The provider states that your card data is not stored with it.
How to save
With admission tickets you save less through discount codes than through the choice of service. Compare combination tickets, such as Last Supper plus Brera, with two single tickets. Look for reductions for children or students. If vouchers are available, they are listed on our provider page.
Tips
- The confirmation usually arrives one working day after the order. For bookings on Friday or over the weekend it comes on Monday. So do not book on the day before.
- Tickets are never sent by post. You get a link to the voucher, which you can print or show on your phone unless a printout is required.
- Collect the tickets on the booked day, at least 15 minutes before the confirmed time. Another day is not possible.
- Someone else can pick them up, they only need the voucher, except for the Vatican Museums.
- If you are not an Italian citizen, you can leave Codice fiscale and Partita IVA blank on the Italian page.
Avoiding common mistakes
The most common mistake is booking too late. The big museums assign time slots, and popular times sell out early. Almost as common is a voucher that cannot be found again. Save it on your phone straight away and email the link to yourself. Enter your email address carefully when you order, because you also retrieve the voucher with it later. A typo there is the most common reason for a missing confirmation. If nothing arrives within the stated time, write to support before you set off for the visit.
Booking with cashback
The cashback runs through daily cashback. Open the daily cashback shop page for Weekend Italy first, go from there to Weekend Italy and book as usual. The credit follows after your confirmed trip. You can see the current rate on our Weekend Italy page at TripPrice.
