The Paris taxe de séjour went up sharply on 1 January 2026. It is charged per person and night according to the star rating. In Paris several surcharges are added to the base amount and more than triple it.
What Paris charges per night in 2026
- Palace: 15.93 EUR
- 5 stars: 11.70 EUR
- 4 stars: 8.45 EUR
- 3 stars: 5.53 EUR
- 2 stars: 3.25 EUR
- 1 star: 2.60 EUR
These figures include the regional surcharges (200 percent for Île-de-France Mobilités transport, 15 percent for the Société du Grand Paris) and the departmental 10 percent. Unclassified places such as many holiday flats pay 16.25 percent of the price, capped at 15.93 EUR per person and night. Minors are exempt. The property collects the tax, often at arrival or departure. Booking sites sometimes list it separately and sometimes leave it out of the price.
Example: two adults, three nights, four-star hotel. 2 times 3 times 8.45 EUR is 50.70 EUR.
From Roissy-Charles-de-Gaulle to the centre
- RER B: 14 EUR per adult, about 55 to 60 minutes to the centre, children aged 4 to 9 pay 7 EUR.
- Taxi at a flat fare: 56 EUR to the Right Bank, 65 EUR to the Left Bank, up to four passengers, luggage included.
For four people the taxi costs less per head than the train, but it is not faster in heavy traffic.
Car hire
A rental car rarely makes sense in the city; parking and traffic are expensive and tiring. For day trips to Versailles or Normandy there are desks at the airports and railway stations. Ask the rental company about the required low-emission sticker before you drive into the city.
