Snaptrip is a marketplace for holiday cottages and self-catering homes in the UK. The site gathers properties from many owners and agencies in one place. You compare and book there, but your contract is with the owner or the agency. It suits anyone planning a self-catering break, with a dog, with the family or for a weekend in the countryside.
What you can book there
You will find holiday homes with details on size, features and pet rules. For pets, a paw print shows how many dogs are allowed, and without one no pets are accepted. Whether there is Wi-Fi is stated in the property description, since not every home has it. There are provisional reservations, where you receive the manager's details, and confirmed bookings.
What a booking really costs
The rental price is only part of it. According to the terms, a booking fee comes on top of the deposit or full payment. A damage deposit may also apply, set by the owner and different from home to home. You get it back if nothing is damaged at checkout. At some homes there is a damage deposit waiver instead, which is non-refundable and covers accidental damage only, not malicious damage.
Then come the items at the property itself: linen and towels are usually included at no extra cost according to the site, while a highchair or cot is often free or available for a fee, as stated in the description. Heating, firewood or final cleaning depend on the home and are listed in its details, so read the description before you compare totals.
Cancellation and payment
Payment goes to the owner or agency, not to Snaptrip. With a deposit, it is one third of the rent plus the booking fee, and the balance is due six or eight weeks before the start, depending on the property. If you book later than that, you pay everything straight away. Cancellation follows the conditions of the individual owner, and these are applied automatically. The cost depends on how close to the start date you cancel. Check them at confirmation, or ask customer support beforehand. If you have travel insurance, the owner can provide a statement of non-refunded payments for your claim.
How to save
Snaptrip promises that you never pay more than booking directly with the partner. If you find the same home cheaper elsewhere, you can write to customer support and, according to the site, the difference is refunded. Members save even more, according to the site. On top of that you earn cashback through daily cashback. Depending on the route you arrive by, a different rate may apply, so check our provider page.
If you travel with children or a dog, read the house rules beforehand, for example about furniture and bedrooms. That avoids arguments over the deposit at the end of the stay.
Tips
- The maximum party size is listed with the property. Extra guests are not allowed, because they would void the owner's insurance. An infant under two is often fine if a cot is available.
- If something is wrong, report it to the owner straight away during your stay. Reports made after you get home are not considered for compensation under the terms.
- A property cannot be held for you, since it is advertised on other sites too. For preferred dates, do not wait too long.
- The address and check-in details come later directly from the property manager by email.
Booking with cashback
The cashback runs through daily cashback. Open the daily cashback store page for Snaptrip first, click through to the provider from there and then book as usual on its own site. The credit arrives once the booking is confirmed and the trip is completed.
You can see the current cashback rate on our Snaptrip provider page at TripPrice. Current vouchers and deals are listed on that page as well, along with the cashback conditions.
