VROOEM is a comparison and booking portal for rental cars based in Belgium. You search once and see offers from local and international rental companies side by side. It is worth a look if you need a car on holiday or on a trip and want to compare the terms of the rental companies before booking.
What you can book
You enter pick-up location, drop-off location and rental dates and get cars from different providers, from compacts to sedans. The home page lists airports such as Dubai, Marrakech, Casablanca, Tangier and Bologna as examples. VROOEM says it helps with your booking in your own language. There is also an eSIM section for travellers.
What the booking really costs
The rental price is only part of the bill. The terms and the help page show what to plan for:
- You pay part of the price online at VROOEM and the rest at the desk of the rental company. The home page mentions up to 15 percent as the online share.
- For the security deposit you usually need a credit or debit card. Some stations accept debit cards, but then extra requirements or a larger deposit often apply.
- Drivers under 25 may pay a young driver surcharge. The minimum age is typically 21 but can differ by location and car type.
- Fuel, tolls and parking fees are paid by you.
- Extra insurance can be added as an option. Check what is already in the price, because you are liable for damage or theft if you are not covered.
- If you return the car late, an extra day can be charged, usually after a grace period of 30 minutes to an hour.
Cancellation and payment
You can cancel before the rental starts, but cancellation fees may apply. How much is refunded depends on the rental company policy, the timing and any processing fees. Depending on the provider, full or partial payment is required in advance. Read the conditions of your specific offer before paying and see until when a cancellation is free. Payments run through external payment providers.
How to save
VROOEM currently has a promotion: every car rental booking comes with a free travel eSIM, listed until 31 December 2026. We have no other coupons for it. You can see the current cashback rate on our provider page. The rate for car rental can differ from other types of travel. In the offer, compare whether full cover, mileage and fuel policy are included, because a low daily price can look very different quickly.
Booking with cashback
The cashback runs through daily cashback. Here is how to go about it:
- Open the daily cashback store page for VROOEM.
- Click through to VROOEM and start your booking from scratch.
- Book as usual and finish everything in one go, in the same browser.
The credit arrives once the trip is confirmed.
Documents and pick-up
At pick-up you need a valid driving licence, a government photo ID and a card for the deposit. In some countries an international driving permit is also required, so ask beforehand. Take photos of the car condition when you collect it and have existing damage noted on the rental agreement. On return, a photo of the fuel gauge and the odometer helps if questions come up later.
If several people travel, compare not only the price but also luggage space, gearbox and seats. An automatic car often costs more than a manual, and for long drives a larger car with more comfort pays off. Also ask yourself whether you need to register an additional driver, because some rental companies charge a fee for that.
Tips
- Set the pick-up time to match your flight arrival and plan a buffer.
- Check minimum age, surcharges and deposit before paying.
- Keep the confirmation and rental agreement until the trip and the credit are done.
- Finish the booking in the same browser in which you opened the daily cashback link.
