Trip.com vs Agoda: Who has the cheapest hotel prices? No blanket answer exists, because the same room costs less at one or the other depending on date, rate and property. What you can compare is what gets added to the room price and where you stand if plans change. We name Trip.com first: its terms say plainly that when you prepay, you pay the amount shown on the payment page. Agoda sits next to it as a factual counterpart. Status October 2026.
What you pay in the end
Trip.com describes two routes in its terms of use. Some bookings are prepaid online, others are paid when you use the product, for instance at hotel check-in. With prepayment the amount on the payment page applies. Which route your offer follows, Trip.com shows in the booking step.
At Agoda the price in the results list leaves out taxes and service fees, unless the page states differently. The terms also describe an Agoda booking fee for stays and flights. It can appear in the form as a convenience fee and is not refunded unless the law demands it. Count on the total in the last step, not on the number in the list.
Currency and card payments abroad
When the currency you pay in differs from that of your bank account, the card provider may use a rate of its own and add a charge for payments abroad. Trip.com says so in its terms and leaves the checking to you. With payment at the hotel, the rate on the day can be another than on the day you booked.
Agoda goes into more detail. If you choose a charge currency that differs from the currency of the hotel offer for an immediate payment, Agoda may add up to five percent on top of the exchange rate. The terms name no add-on, for example, when the booking comes from an IP address in the US, in Canada or in the United Kingdom. Paying in the currency of the offer avoids it.
Cancellation, changes and confirmation
At Trip.com the hotel terms apply as well as its own. If the two sets of rules contradict each other, say for a low-priced room without refund, the Trip.com terms win. The rules for your booking appear in the booking step and become part of the terms. Many rooms are confirmed at once, and from that moment the room is guaranteed. If Trip.com cannot confirm, you get the full amount back. A price error that should have been obvious may lead Trip.com to cancel.
At Agoda everything follows the booked rate and the rules of the property. According to the terms some reservations cannot be cancelled or changed. For a cancellation or change Agoda may charge a fee on behalf of the property, up to the cost of the whole booking, and the fee is displayed on the platform. Read the rule before you click book.
Loyalty and price guarantee
Trip.com runs its own rewards programme, linked in the menu and in the footer of the site. Read the participation rules and benefits there before you book for the sake of points.
Agoda names a free VIP programme with several tiers in its terms. Requirements and benefits appear on the platform and may change. Add to that a best price guarantee, where Agoda matches the difference if your claim meets the conditions, and promotions that usually cannot be combined. The guarantee does not apply to bookings through partners.

Who suits whom
Trip.com suits readers who want to plan hotel, flight and train in one account and like to read the payment terms in one continuous text beforehand. If you are looking for more than a bed, that saves switching between sites. This is our recommendation for trips with several parts, without claiming that Trip.com is always cheaper.
Agoda is worth a look if you want to use the best price guarantee or your hotel has a better rate there. In that case the charge currency matters, because it decides on a possible add-on.
For both: put room type, nights, breakfast and cancellation rule side by side and compare the final amount.
